This will maintain a comfortable working temperature of 16°C (60°F) when the outside temperature is around 0°C (32°F).

How Much Heat Do You Need?

16°C (60°F) is a comfortable level for staff that are moving around and generating body heat. Where people are more static, at work stations or desks, a temperature of 21°C/70°F is more comfortable. In this case add 30% to the total heat required.
More heat will be required if the outside temperature falls below 0°C. For every degree centigrade below you should increase your heat requirement by 5%.
If you have existing sources of heating, deduct their heat output from the total to calculate how much extra you need.

What type of Heater is most suitable?

For large areas in particular it may be more efficient and cost-effective to use several smaller heaters rather than one large one.
The various types of units are described in our about heating section including direct and indirect heaters fuelled by gas, oil or electric.
